Jell-O Sherbet - Grandma Ellen

1 (3oz.) package gelatin, any flavor
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup boiling water
2 cups milk

Dissolve Jell-o gelatin and sugar in boiling water. chill until slightly syrupy (don't let set), Gradually add milk, stirring constantly. Pour into a 8 inch square pan.  Freeze until firm about 1/2 inch around the edges - about 1 hour.  Pour into a chilled bowl and beat with rotary beaters until fluffy. Return to freezer until firm, 4-5 hours.

Slush

This can be made into a delicious beverage by the addition of 3/4 cup water and 2 lemons juiced and grated for the zest.  Freeze only ti the slush stage. Serve with a lemon-lime soda.
