Corn Dogs – Grandma Ellen

2 eggs, beaten
1 cup corn meal
¾ teaspoon salt
¼ cup sugar
1 ½ - 2 cups milk
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
24 wieners
shortening or lard for deep frying.


Combine eggs and milk; add dry ingredients to form batter.  Heat wieners in boiling water or microwave.  Dry wieners. Insert wooden meat skewer in each seiner.  Dip one wiener at a time into batter.  Fry in deep fat at 375 degrees F.
